The Institute for Research and Learning (IRL) is launching a specialized training program on Preventing Identity-Based Violent Extremism (IBVE) against Minorities. Across the region, religious, ethnic, and cultural minorities are disproportionately targeted by violent extremism, leading to exclusion, discrimination, and humanitarian crises. This training equips practitioners, policymakers, and community leaders with the knowledge and tools to understand drivers of IBVE, strengthen inclusive governance, and promote peaceful coexistence.
The program combines theoretical insights with practical strategies, drawing on case studies from South and Southeast Asia. Participants will explore root causes of extremism, policy frameworks, community resilience models, and rights-based approaches to prevention. Special focus is placed on the role of education, media, youth engagement, and interfaith dialogue in countering narratives of hate and protecting vulnerable groups.
By the end of the training, participants will be able to design context-specific interventions, foster multi-stakeholder collaboration, and advocate for policies that safeguard minority rights. The training reflects IRL’s commitment to advancing peacebuilding, human rights, and inclusive development across Asia, ensuring that minority communities can live with dignity, security, and equality.
