Fragile and conflict-affected contexts demand innovative approaches to peacebuilding and human security. IRL conducts research that examines the drivers of conflict, the dynamics of peace processes, and the role of local actors in shaping sustainable solutions. Our studies explore themes such as identity-based tensions, community reconciliation, transitional justice, and the nexus between humanitarian aid and peacebuilding. We place a strong emphasis on participatory methods that capture the perspectives of conflict-affected populations, including youth, women, and minorities. By documenting lessons learned and analyzing conflict sensitivity in programming, IRL equips organizations with the knowledge to design interventions that not only “do no harm” but actively contribute to peace and stability. We also look at broader security challenges, including displacement, extremism, and governance in fragile settings, providing evidence-based insights that inform policy and practice at national and international levels.
